Today in the mail; Punk Rock Drivin' Song Of A Gun by the Gibson Bros./Workdogs. I'm happy as hell. After listening to Big Pine Boogie I never thought that these guys could top that. I wasn't completely wrong, but this release is nearly as fantastic. Gibson Bros. was a band with Jeff Evans and Don Howland, two of the greatest performers in the garage-scene. (Jeff also is in 68 Comeback, South Filthy, played with Oblivans. Don now is in the Bassholes, check 'em out.) And garage isn't doin' them right. It's more than that, they got country, hillbilly, surf, rhythm&blues, rocknroll. The Workdogs are Scott Jarvis and Rob Kennedy playing drums and bass. A rhythm section, perfect in this setting. Guitarplaying is from outer space. Fanfuckintastic! It's wild, haunting, scaring, lovely and whatever more. Amazing album on Homestead Records.
